About the Author

Hi, I'm Shruthi. I'm a high school student with a burning passion for biotechnology. I love learning about cutting-edge technology, like the slow introduction of artificial meat, or how science and technology can be combined to create sustainable solutions for the future. When I am not researching or learning about the latest breakthroughs in this field, I enjoy spending my time on the tennis court, letting my imagination run wild while painting, or unwinding at the mall. These activities help me stay balanced and inspired by the world around me to gain fresh insights into everyday life.

What made me say, “Hey, let’s blog”?

I had taken up an interest in biotechnology concepts as well as writing short stories and skits from middle school. So when I first heard about website-building and blogging, I heard a passion calling out to me. I felt as though this was the perfect place to share what my thoughts were on a certain topic rather than to be confined only by writing research assignments in school. Additionally, I created this page to share a little about my own lifestyle and how it shaped me. After reading my articles, perhaps they have the potential to positively impact someone else and offer a  fresh perspective on certain ideas.

What made me want to share things online?

To be honest, I used to be a turtle who would not come out of their shell. Too scared to meet people, talk to them, or even share personal thoughts or ideas. It was when it hit me that if I kept staying inside of my shell, I'd miss out on the most wondrous aspects of life to grow, to learn, and perhaps even surprise myself through all that I was exposing myself to. So I decided to take a deep breath, step out of my comfort zone, and start this blog as a way to find my voice... one word at a time.

What’s been stuck in my head lately?

Lately, I can't stop thinking about the concept of chronesthesia. It is where the brain is able to mentally travel through time just by thinking about it. Not only that, but your brain has the capacity to sift through all of the memories you have to perhaps relive that moment, and imagine potential outcomes in the future. It's funny to think that time-traveling does not exist, when our own minds are able to go back and feel a certain moment vaguely. The human brain is such a complex part of human anatomy, and just when we think that we understand it, there's always more that we don't know.
